Since 1973 that the D. O. La Mancha was created, the defense of the quality of wines has been together with the promotion, its main job. The Rules of the D.O. La Mancha and from their Controlling Council
were approved definetively by an order from 2nd June 1976, being modified the 17th of July 1995. These rules dictate all the norms that the farmers are obliged to follow, and in the same way the wines appointed to this D.O., defining clearly its geographical extension. The Council counts with an equipment of experts in charge of controlling the vineyards under their denomination of origin, and the same counts for the Wine cellars and bottled plants of their geographical area, as well as the grape and the wines protected under the D. O. La Mancha all over the National territory.

The inspectors from the Department of Quality Control, before any penalty, propose the corresponding Commision the opening of a sanctioned dossier, according to the prevailing laws.
This Control Body is the neuralgic centre of the denomination of origin La Mancha, and thanks to its wonderful work, it has been possible to progress in quality and seriousness, that nowadays define the wines with all their merits.

The Controlling Council from the Denomination of origin La Mancha, has obtained recently the Quality Certification UNE-EN-ISO 9001-2000, a functioning norm that allows this enterprise the improvement of all its functions, assuring a bigger profitability and credibility in its relation with the consumers.
